Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 March, 2026Friend's Tapes operates the https://www.friendstapes.com website, which provides a free music notification service (the "Service"). This page is used to inform website visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information for anyone deciding to use our Service via the www.friendstapes.com website.

If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. The Personal Information we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information Collection and Use

For a better experience while using our Service, we may require you to provide certain information, such as:

  • Email Address: Used to send you notifications about new music releases from your chosen artists.
  • Favorite Bands or Artists: Used to identify which artists you wish to receive notifications for.
  • Subscription and Billing Status: When you upgrade to a paid plan, we store your subscription status (e.g., active, cancelled), plan type, and billing period dates. We do not store your payment card details or billing address — those are handled exclusively by our payment processor, Paddle.com.

We will never send you spam or sell your personal information to third parties. We only use your data to provide and improve our Service in the ways described below.

Spotify Integration and Disconnecting Your Account

If you choose to connect your Spotify account with our Service, we request access to certain Spotify data, including your followed artists, playlists, liked tracks and email address to enhance your experience and allow you to subscribe to artist notifications. You can disconnect your Spotify account at any time by clicking the "Disconnect" button available in your user interface at the bottom right corner at https://spotify.friendstapes.com/subscribe.

When you disconnect your Spotify account:

  1. All Spotify-related data, such as your followed artists, playlists, and liked tracks, will no longer be accessible by our Service.
  2. Any active subscriptions to artist notifications linked to your Spotify account will be disabled.
  3. We will delete any Spotify Personal Data stored in our system in compliance with Spotify's Developer Terms.

Please note that disconnecting your Spotify account does not affect subscriptions added via other methods (e.g., manual email and artist entry). For more information on how we handle Spotify data, please contact us at hey@friendstapes.com.

Cookies

Cookies are files with small amounts of data that commonly include an anonymous unique identifier. These are sent to your browser from the website you visit and are stored on your device.

Our Service does not use cookies to collect personal information. However, third-party services (such as Google Analytics) employed on our website may use cookies to help us understand how users interact with our site. You have the option to accept or refuse these cookies and to be notified when a cookie is being sent.

Service Providers

We employ third-party software services (e.g., Amplitude, Google Analytics, Google reCAPTCHA, SendGrid, Paddle.com) to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used, protecting against spam and abuse, processing payments, and delivering email notifications.

  • Purpose of sharing: These third parties may have access to your personal information (email address and favorite bands) strictly to perform tasks on our behalf (e.g., sending emails, analyzing site usage).
  • Obligations: They are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose and must comply with relevant data protection regulations.
Payment Processing (Paddle)

All payments for paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as our Merchant of Record. This means Paddle is the entity that sells the product to you, handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax, and currency conversion on our behalf.

What data Paddle collects: When you make a purchase, Paddle collects your email address, billing address, and payment method details (e.g., credit card number) directly. FriendsTapes does not have access to your full payment card details or billing address — this information is processed and stored exclusively by Paddle.

What data FriendsTapes receives from Paddle: After a successful transaction, we receive your email address, subscription status, transaction ID, customer ID, and billing period dates. We use this data solely to activate and manage your paid subscription.

Legal basis (GDPR): Paddle passes buyer data to FriendsTapes under the legal basis of Legitimate Interests, strictly for order fulfillment and product support. We do not use this data for marketing purposes unless you have separately consented to receive marketing communications.

For more information on how Paddle handles your data, please review Paddle's Privacy Policy.

By using this site, you agree to Google's collection and use of data as described in their policies.
